Overhead or Gantry Crane?

Overhead or Gantry Crane?

Start with the Support Arrangement

An overhead crane operates on a runway arrangement supported by the building or a suitable independent structure. A gantry crane carries its bridge on ground-supported legs. This structural difference affects the working area and site information needed for selection. Share the available building or ground arrangement before comparing configurations.

Consider the Movement Route

Describe where the load starts, where it needs to go and the required travel distance. For workshop production, an overhead arrangement may make use of the space above the working area. In an outdoor yard, a gantry arrangement can provide ground-supported travel. A semi-gantry combines different support conditions on the two sides, so the site drawing is especially useful.

Match the Equipment to the Task

Load dimensions, lifting height, operating cycle and environment remain relevant for both crane families. Grab, hook and electromagnetic handling applications require an attachment suited to the material. Discuss these details together instead of choosing solely from a photograph of the equipment.

Share Your Site Information

Send the site plan, available working space, load information and power supply. Include any existing runway or rail drawings. Wanlong can review an equipment arrangement against the project requirements, with the final scope defined in the quotation and technical documents.
